BIO

Sebastián Boesmi boasts over two decades of artistic production, during which he has held 21 solo exhibitions in galleries and institutions, in addition to participating in numerous group exhibitions and international residencies. He has lived and worked in cities such as New York, Johannesburg, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, Barcelona, ​​Asunción, and Miami, experiences that have solidified a personal style in his work, which is now featured in prominent private collections in the Americas and Europe.

His work has been exhibited at the Valencian Institute of Modern Art (IVAM), Casa de América and Obertura Carabanchel in Madrid; the RGV Arriaza studio; the contemporary art fairs JustMad (Madrid) and Swab (Barcelona); the Borges Cultural Center in Buenos Aires; the Visual Arts Center – Museo del Barro, the Matices art gallery, the Citibank Cultural Center and the National Museum of Fine Arts of Asunción, among other leading spaces.

Currently, he works between studios in Madrid —Estudio Inverso and Taller Madera, collectives located in Malasaña and Carabanchel— and his studio in Asunción, the city where he began his artistic practice and which, together with Madrid, continues to be a fundamental center for the production and reflection of his work.

Boesmi promotes a program of free experimental workshops as part of his solo exhibitions; the workshops are aimed exclusively at people with a project related to the visual arts.

He is a founding member of AVISPA (Association of Visual Artists of Paraguay), a professional member of AVAM (Visual Artists Associated of Madrid) and a member of the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors (AEPE).

Statement

My work explores ideas such as transformation and hybridity, that which defies rigid definition. Through a carefully curated combination of media—painting, drawing, sculpture, and video art—I delve into the tensions between the organic and the artificial, the static and the mutable. My work is an invitation to rethink our ways of inhabiting the environment, opening spaces to imagine more fluid and diverse futures.
